A Message from the Director
Welcome Pre-Nursing Students
The Pre-Nursing faculty and I want you to know that we are delighted you have chosen Carolinas College of Health Sciences for your education.

The Pre-Nursing instructors and staff are dedicated to helping you succeed. All of our faculty enjoy teaching and working with students. Please do not hesitate to go to your instructors as soon as possible when you realize that you could use some extra help. We are here for you.

I hope that your time at our college will be enjoyable and productive. Please feel free to drop by and introduce yourself to me. Getting to know students is one of the best things about my job.

Program Overview
Have you ever considered getting general education credits for the Nursing program before you even begin the nursing program? Maybe you would like to start your college career by taking a part-time course load? If this sounds like you, perhaps you would like to enroll in the Pre-Nursing program at Carolinas College of Health Sciences.

In the Pre-Nursing program, students have the option of taking two semesters of general education courses - which are most of the general education requirements for the Associate in Applied Science in Nursing. This program consists of 25 semester hours of credit.

First semester - 12 semester hours of credit Credit
BIO 101 Human Anatomy and Physiology 4
IDS 102 Medical Terminology 2
PSY 101 General Psychology 3
ENG 101 English Composition 3
Total 12

Second semester - 13 semester hours of credit Credit
BIO 102 Human Anatomy and Physiology II 4
MAT 101 College Math 3
PSY 102 Human Growth & Development 3
SOC 101 Introduction to Sociology 3
Total 13

TOTAL 25

Another aspect of the Pre-Nursing Certificate program is the option for guaranteed admission to the School of Nursing.

To be eligible for guaranteed admission, you will need to complete the following four courses at Carolinas College of Health Sciences and receive an overall 3.25 GPA for these courses:

  • Anatomy and Physiology I
  • Anatomy and Physiology II
  • Medical Terminology
  • College Math

For guaranteed admission, these four courses must be completed at Carolinas College within three consecutive terms. Only the grades earned on the first attempt at these courses will be considered in calculating the GPA eligibility for guaranteed admission. Those who earn guaranteed admission will be admitted to the Nursing program no sooner than one full term after completion of all four required courses.
